Maine Pottery Tour

Maine Pottery Tour

Project Goal: Turn the Maine Pottery Tour into a truly interactive, statewide adventure.

Develop a website app for the Pottery Tour that would allow visitors to browse participating studios, filter by region, and create a customized itinerary for the annual tour. The integrated app makes it simple to discover new artists, navigate to their studios, and track your progress along the way.

The Maine Pottery Tour is a statewide celebration of clay, creativity, and community. Every spring, on the first weekend in May, pottery studios across Maine open their doors to visitors. It’s a chance to explore the process behind the art – to meet local makers, watch demonstrations, peek into kilns, and take home one-of-a-kind pieces crafted by hand.

To make the experience even better, the tour’s website and interactive Plan My Tour app were built by Mod Media, LLC to simplify planning and discovery. Visitors can browse artist profiles, see photos of their work, and filter studios by region, style, or specialty. The interactive map and itinerary planning tools make it easy to plan your Pottery Tour route, find new studios, and navigate the Tour at your own pace. Badges are awarded when studios are visited, adding a fun gamification element to the app to make the experience both engaging and memorable.

By blending thoughtful design with user-friendly technology, the Maine Pottery Tour website and app turn a beloved local tradition into a seamless, interactive experience — helping more people connect with Maine’s talented pottery community while supporting local art across the state.

Pine Tree Connect

Pine Tree Connect

Project Goal: Build a digital platform to make it simple to discover and support Maine businesses, and strengthen connections to Maine businesses in communities across the state.

Create a digital business directory and community platform for Maine businesses only that supports local economies by making it easier for residents and visitors to find and engage with businesses in their communities.

Pine Tree Connect is the original brainchild of Mod Media, LLC. Founded with the belief that local economies thrive when communities and local business are connected, the site was designed to make it easier for residents and visitors to discover, engage with, and support businesses across the state.

Pine Tree Connect was designed with user experience at the forefront. From its clean, user-friendly interface to its powerful search and category tools, every feature was built with simplicity and accessibility in mind. For consumers, Pine Tree Connect is a simple, intuitive way to discover businesses by category, location, or specialty. For business owners, it’s a powerful, affordable portal to online visibility, offering an affordable basic information listing to upgraded profiles that include added exposure through article and editorial features, newsletter and social media highlights, and strategic backlinks that boost search visibility.

More than an advertising directory, Pine Tree Connect is about community strength. It’s a hub for local stories, helpful resources, and features that celebrate Maine’s people, places, and shared values – fostering connection and collaboration across the Pine Tree State. By combining thoughtful design with purpose-driven technology, Pine Tree Connect makes supporting local easier, more engaging, and more impactful for everyone who calls Maine home.

Owner, Priority Learning

We’re excited about Pine Tree Connect! So much so that we upgraded our membership this year to the King Pine because I’m seeing all the great coverage they do, and reading the articles, and I’m excited for our article! It’s very affordable advertising, and it’s someplace new for people to find us, something different, and that’s good too. I also really like that it’s a community place – I really like the mission – I think it’s just a good thing to support!

Marcy Glover

Hindsight Designs

I love being part of the Maine Pottery Tour, and it’s helped my business so much. Since they updated the website and added the mapping feature, it has made it much easier for visitors to learn more about my work. The new interactive map feature is a game-changer, too. Every year I meet people who never would’ve found me otherwise, and those connections are what it’s all about. The tour makes the whole pottery community feel closer and more connected, and I just love being a part of it.

AC Yard Services, Vice President of Sales & Communication

We’ve had very good response from our listing on Pine Tree Connect. We’ve also found a couple of vendors we were looking for on there. It’s a good service and when you look at everything there is online, Google doesn’t help small businesses, we need something to help us get noticed too.
